M.A.F. is a performance group which was founded in the club/theater evening H*RT at Panama, Amsterdam. The group is existing out of performers who either are young talents or proffessional dancers / actors .

The performers come from different disciplines as they are working for the National Ballet ,Scapino,Itzik Galilie, Ish, and many more. M.A.F. has its residency in H*RT and at MidNiteSessions, performing each month. Mainly the performances are based out of a visual theater and experimental work.

The aim of M.A.F. is creating art in the night, working together with visual artists, video artists, Dj's, Spoken word artists and guest choreographers. The work is on one hand provoking, on the other hand it can be entertaining. The work is sometimes created to the theme's of the evening, or purely created out of brainstorms.

Performing monthly at the various places -H*RT, Mid-Nite Sessions and guestshows- makes that they can play with alltunes and vibes. The concept is to create Art in the night; it might be even the same you
would see when you would go to see a theaterplay or dance performance.

The group is varying between 1 and 20 persons, at times when there is a special artist (visual, etc) who likes to co-operate the M.A.F.performance will be created around their work . The compositions vary between long durational performances where there is no high piek ( like tableaux vivants ),to short pieces with strong effects (which can be pure jazzdance or short performances). Some might return and Develop,
these short pieces have a story which will be repeated but developed each time into something different.

The set up is based around a team of people; a creative producer, choreographer, repetitor, a make up artist, supported by theater chlothing company Gerritsen who allow us to have the most beautifull costumes .

The work can be performed on stage as well as throughout the whole space making use of all the weird spots ( weird spaces you would normaly would not expect a performance to happen). M.A.F.performances are often
dealing with extremities; where a fashion model would turn into an ugly dancer, where performers have to endure impossible assignments as standing on one leg for ten minutes. Mostly these performances are not
the ones you would see in a club. That's why M.A.F. Likes to do this :) All of the performances are little projects from beginning to end. Cooperating with the Dj, Video artist, Lightdesigner is what the group is used to and preferes to. In order to create moments in the evening which are special it's evident to colaborate with the different media's. At times the whole space will be shifted around, at other times it's smaller yet still quality performance. M.A.F. has been seen in 2002 at the Uitmarkt Amsterdam , ArtBoat 'Stubnitz', Art is not fair (artfair) Rotterdam, and will be shown at the DanceOpera

Challenge to the group are new places, new spaces; put Art out of it's context, put performers into a different atmosphere to experiment. Understanding that quality maintains to be true.

The drive to keep on going ,the drive to search for unknown places , never forgetting the base. Each and everytime a new performance, a new day to perform ,not allowing the stardom to get to us
